The Osa Peninsula holds 453 species of birds, from those, 16 species are endemic to the region. In this tour, you will meet our top guide and specialist Melvin Cruz, a local boy from La Palma, and a bird specialist.
With his expertise you will have the chance to observe approximately 250 to 300 species, of course, this is subject to weather conditions; however, that number is very accurate for this full birder tour.
This 5 days 4 nights itinerary will take you to the best birding spots in the area, including the world-famous Corcovado National Park.

  1. Day 1 Danta Corcovado Lodge, Guadalupe

    Arrival to Puerto Jimenez, pick up and transfer to Danta. (transport not included)
    12:00 p.m. Lunch and meeting with the guide.
    3:00-5:00 p.m. Birding around the area.
    7:00 p.m. Dinner.

  2. Day 2 Danta Corcovado Lodge, Guadalupe.

    5:30 a.m. Coffee and fruits.
    6:00 a.m. Transfer to Rincon, looking for the Yellow-billed Cotinga. (transport not included)
    9:00 a.m. Back to hotel for breakfast.
    Free time
    12:00 p.m. Lunch.
    2:00 p.m. Transfer to Ngobe indigenous reserve.(transport not included)
    2:30-5:00 p.m. Birding around the reserve.
    5:00 p.m. Transfer back to Danta Lodge. (transport not included)
    7:00 p.m. Dinner.

  3. Day 3 Los Mineros, El Tigre.

    5:00 a.m. Coffee and breakfast. (Danta)
    5:45-8:00 a.m. One last birding around Danta.
    9:00 a.m. Transfer to El Tigre, Los Mineros. (transport not included)
    12:00 p.m. Lunch at Los Mineros.
    3:00-5:00 p.m. Birding around el Tigre area.
    7:00 p.m. Dinner.

  4. Day 4 La Leona Ecolodge, Carate.

    5:30 a.m. Breakfast (Los Mineros).
    5:45-8:00 a.m. Birding around el Tigre.
    9:00 a.m. Transfer from el Tigre to Carate (lots of birds on the way). (transport not included)
    1:00 p.m. Lunch at La Leona Lodge.
    3:00-5:00 p.m. Birding around the lodge.
    7:00 p.m. Dinner.

  5. Day 5 Corcovado National Park

    6:00 a.m. Breakfast.
    7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Tour to Corcovado National Park.
    1:00 p.m. Transfer from Carate to Puerto Jimenez. (transport not included)

    3:00 p.m. Arrival to Puerto Jimenez, end of the tour.

This is a local family business that aspires to be the leader in rural tourism in the Osa Peninsula, a model of local development and example of conservation of natural resources, creative design and sustainable development.

Los Mineros Guesthouse
This place offers a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, with bamboo huts with shared or private bathrooms. Located in el Tigre, a gold digging community that looks forward to ecotourism as an alternative of development. You will enjoy the diverse avifauna and the sound of the river.
Los Mineros has a big open restaurant and bar where you can enjoy home made meals.

La Leona Eco Lodge
This place provides tent-cabins designed for a unique glamping experience. All cabins include double or single beds, a small table, two chairs in on a wooden deck and a shared bathroom. The rooms are surrounded by scenic views of the forest and the ocean.
